Dig 3: Found object collage & mouldable plastic badge-making
Urban Mudlarking at the Bethnal Green Nature Reserve with Phytology’s Artist in Residence: Ellie Doney. Over the summer months Ellie will lead a series of public ‘digs’, urban mudlarking, excavating, analysing & archiving found materials.
Inspired by medieval pilgrim badges, this workshop begins with a guided dig and foraging session on site to select items old or new, natural or manmade to collage together and make a silicone mould for a badge. We then press in colourful heat-softening plastics and badge backs, to create original souvenir badges made from the materials found within Phytology.
