Dig Workshop pt.2 - Pewter casting and silicone mould making

Urban Mudlarking at the Bethnal Green Nature Reserve with Phytology's Artist in Residence: Ellie Doney. Over the summer months Ellie will lead a series of public ‘digs’, urban mudlarking, excavating, analysing & archiving found materials. 11am till 1pm - followed by a shared lunch Inspired by traditional gold weights from Ghana, this workshop involves casting found objects using dentists’ silicone and low-temperature metal. We begin with a guided dig and foraging session on site to select items old or new, natural or manmade to make moulds of, and pour in molten metal to make a one-off talisman of the materials of Phytology to take home.
