Altar Building & Composting Our Grief in Community with Yaya

Join us at Bethnal Green Nature Reserve for a clay workshop and community gathering, where we’ll explore creativity, connection, and grief in a supportive environment.

What to Expect:

  • Build altars using raw clay, which will return to the soil over time.
  • Create air-drying clay mobiles to decorate the forest trees.
  • Explore the forest, rest, or share in a community space.

Practical Information:

  • Dress warmly and bring waterproofs, as the forest ground can be damp.
  • If it rains, we’ll move to a covered area.
  • Hot herbal drinks and hand warmers will be provided.
  • There will be cozy rest areas with blankets, books, and art supplies.

This is an open and welcoming space for all states of mind and energy. You’re invited to participate at your own pace, whether through creating, sharing, or simply being present.

Bethnal Green Nature Reserve has been cared for by local residents and volunteers since 1977. Originally a WWII bombsite, it now supports a thriving ecosystem of plants, bats, birds, fungi, and more—including people.
