The Experimental School of Urban Ecologies is delighted to welcome Nozomi Nakabayashi for an online guest lecture as part of our Climate & Adaptation course.

Through ongoing experiments, Nozomi explores and shares practical approaches to caring for existing urban ground. Her work focuses on improving soil permeability and biodiversity to strengthen climate resilience, while also exploring the everyday human and material networks that make these transformations possible.

Her understanding of soil and ground as a shared ecological and social structure has been shaped by her experience working on public architecture, landscapes, playgrounds and public realm projects in London with Hackney-based architectural practice Root & Erect.

Recent collaborations include Bethnal Green Nature Reserve, Teesdale and Hollybush TRA in London, as well as the Organic Civil Engineering Association.
