‘Dormancy’, our new billboard by Yaya (海)
Yaya (海) is a visual artist, and creative facilitator whose work drifts through outdoor spaces, queering echoes of Southern Chinese cosmology and body-land somatics into rituals of arts.
Much of Yaya’s recent work orbits around dormancy periods and their vital role in the cyclical wisdom of the natural world. This billboard portraying the Bethnal Green Nature Reserve slowing down most of it surface activity, and drawing energy back into the soil until Spring. As a neighbour, Yaya invites us to reflect on our relationship to our surrounding nature spaces in this inward period and what restorative rhythms can translate in our own personal lives, in relation to the Land curling back inward during winter.
This billboard will be on display across winter period December 2025 till March 2026.
