A self-guided tour of Old Bethnal Green’s Social Spaces - how places shape people and people shape spaces.
This self-guided walking tour is a short stroll through the little-known but culturally rich and historically fascinating neighbourhood surrounding Old Bethnal Green Road conservation area.
Covering the area just south of Cambridge Heath Station, the tour will explore the spaces where people meet, commune and spend time together, telling the story of how these social spaces came into being and how the neighbourhood has evolved since the mid 1800s. Social spaces are what turn a collection of buildings into a neighbourhood.
We will be hosting a guided tour of the Phytology medicine garden between 2pm - 2:30pm and open for drop-in visits 2pm - 6pm, 10th September 2022.
