Set in Lesotho, This Is Not a Burial, It's a Resurrection follows an 80-year-old widow as she prepares for her own funeral while her village faces destruction from a dam project that will flood the land to generate electricity for neighbouring South Africa.

A visually stunning meditation on land, memory, and resistance, the film explores the profound connections between people, place, and ancestry in the face of displacement.

This screening is part of Wild Horses of Fire! film club's summer season exploring the climate crisis through cinema, presented in partnership with Bethnal Green Nature Reserve's interdisciplinary Experimental School of Urban Ecologies. The screening will be followed by a discussion on the themes raised by the film.
