Rights for Weeds – Foraging Walk pt.2

Izzy Johnson aka Rights for Weeds will be hosting a series of foraging walks through Spring and early summer within the Bethnal Green Nature Reserve. 1pm - 3pm, Saturday 26th March 2022 Tickets here! Over the course of Spring, the Bethnal Green Nature Reserve will be replete with a plethora of wild plants, trees and shrubs. As the season progresses we'll find different offerings, from roots to shoots, fruits to flowers. For those of us who are new to foraging, this is a chance to learn to identify a myriad of useful and interesting plants. If you've been foraging before then you're still more than welcome, but don't expect the same experience - plants like to grow and change. As well as identification, we'll be discussing plant folklore, history, recipes, traditional medicinal uses, bushcraft, different methods of preparation and other ways to integrate them into our lives. We might even meet some poisonous ones. ACCESSIBILITY Please let us know if you have any accessibility needs. The entire site is step-free but paths are woodchip and may not be accessible to some wheelchairs. We will be walking at a very slow pace. There will be a lot of stopping and talking. There is a step-free all-gender compost toilet onsite. CONCESSIONS There is one free place available for someone unemployed, disabled or who has suffered from financial hardship due to COVID. If this is you, please get in touch with Rights For Weeds via Instagram or Facebook There are a limited number of concessions available for BIPOC members of the local community. SUSTAINABILITY Whilst nibbling is encouraged, please note that we won't be harvesting anything to take home. You will, however, leave with enough knowledge to identify plants on your own. This way you can safely forage somewhere where they're growing abundantly. The dwindling green spaces in London make it all the more important that we are respectful.
