'Storytelling Like Mycelium' an online lecture by Jennifer Reid

6.30pm – 7.45pm
Tue 29 September 2026

The Experimental School of Urban Ecologies, Rights for Weeds, and the Bethnal Green Nature Reserve are delighted to welcome Jennifer Reid for an online lecture. We are thrilled to open this lecture out to members of our wider community, part of our 2026 Foraging & Land Stewardship course.

Jennifer Reid performs Industrial Revolution work song in the Lancashire dialect and Manchester street song. Sixteen years in, she moves between worlds with ease. She was once described as having "irreverent puckish vim" in a mag.

She plays Barb in Shane Meadows 'The Gallows Pole', has opened for Pulp and John Cooper Clarke and performed for Chanel's Metiers d'Art. She's toured with Eliza Carthy for 18 months, and in 2025-26, took her songs to Aotearoa and Australia for four months to critical acclaim. She was awarded the Dennis Dubetz Award for her contributions to Cygnet Folk Festival in Tasmania.
